Benefits explained
FREE legal help line for both business and domestic queries
The Association have arranged for members to gain access to a FREE legal help line hosted by Law Express. Many bodies offer a similar facility but what is of particular benefit to LPA members is that our offer is for both business and domestic issues. Many of our members are sole traders and the distinction between business and domestic life can become blurred. Also, we have a growing membership within the employed sector who will benefit from legal help that fits with their career status.

Access to market information (The inside track)
This page is being populated with free stuff and 'knowledge' that will be of key interest to members. Some of it will be scattered far and wide in the public domain and it will benefit members having a repository of tools, tips, pointers, advice and guidance in one location. Members are encouraged to make suggestions about what could be included in this page so as to make it as beneficial as possible to as wide an audience as possible.

FREE advice and support on career matters
The Association has considerable practitioner knowledge and experience in its board, council and partners. This knowledge and experience is freely available to members of the Association when they need it. Any member who has a career, training, client, staffing, or other personal, operational or commercial query can call or email the office to discuss this in a totally confidential environment. This service is of particular value to individual practitioners; whether independent or employed who do not have a peer group of colleagues or senior team to turn to for impartial advice and guidance. Most of the time the query will be answered during the call. Occasionally the Association will think it better to either reflect on the matter or pass it to a more appropriate person to advise. Whatever the issue, the Association is as passionate about member success as they are.

Use of branding in business communications
The Association permits it members to use the LPA branding on member personal and business communications. This enhances the perception of the member within the wider business community. As the Trade Association Forum's own research attests; being a member of a trade body can significantly enhance a members position within a commercial environment. It makes commercial sense to be a member and the Association encourages members to showcase that they are members. This applies to freelance trainers looking to differentiate themselves in the tendering process for work as well as those looking to progress within an employed career path.

Offers on LPA products including accreditation and qualifications
The Association runs events (conventional and virtual), sells products and has the CLP accreditation and CertLPM qualification. Members are eligible to a variety of offers and discounts on these products. An occasional purchase of a product can recover the cost of membership many times over.

Access to hundreds of work and contract opportunities
The LPA runs the TrainerBase portal that allows purchasers and recruiters a free search facility of trainers (members with a profile) and a free jobs board. On average one job is posted each day; usually over 350 per year. Also hundreds of searches for trainers are made and may members win contracts as a result of being found on the Find a Trainer page.

Discount on insurance from TowerGate
Professional Indemnity Insurance and other cover is becoming a requirement of trading within the UK. The Association has partnered with TowerGate Professional Risks to secure 35%+ discount on a variety of insurance covers. As a member recently commented; their membership of the Association has been paid for three times over by the saving they have made on their current insurance provider.

Unlimited download of thousands of resources
There are close to 2,000 resources on the LPA site that have been contributed by members. Non members are limited to a 5 download limit per day. That means it would take over a year to review all the resources. Members of the LPA do not have any download restrictions and what is more can upload resources themselves and gain valuable contacts and leads with others that download.

FREE participation in selected teleseminars, webinars and CPD activities
The Association itself and a number of partner and supporting organisation run telephone and webinar sessions on marketing, business and other CPD. A selection of these activities are free to members and are paid for by non members. Participation in a number of these activities would cover the cost of membership.

Members only discussion forum
Members asked for a private discussion forum where they could post messages that might be commercially sensitive. This forum is a valuable resource for dialogue with fellow members on topics as diverse as 'how to use twitter', 'what is the difference between competence and capability' and 'have you heard of such and such a company'.

Web presence on the TrainerBase
For freelance and independent trainers and training providers having a TrainerBase profile is a valuable addition to membership. Costing only £90+VAT extra, the functionality the profile offers is considerable and up to 75% cheaper than 'profiles' on other platforms. The amount of text, images, clients, courses, programmes and testimonials that a member can add to their profile is UNLIMITED, not like the 4 images or 3 clients some platforms limit. And of course having a profile on the TrainerBase means that a member will be visible to the hundreds of purchasers who use the site on a monthly basis to find new providers.

FREE copies of TJ*
Members who have a profile on the TrainerBase are eligible (can opt in) to receive free copies of the TJ.

FREE entry on the Showcases page
Members of the Association can showcase themselves in this special page on the LPA web site. This feature enables members to demonstrate their capability and successes over and above other platforms. This is more than a news page and provides additional presence on the internet.
The above are some of the key benefits that membes gain from the Association. If there are other benefits that you would like the Association to consider; please get in touch. As I have been heard to say; onwards and upwards.

e.g. supported by member consultation to inform Association policy on key issues affecting learning practitioners. - The TrainerBase to be the dominant marketplace in the UK for learning practitioners across all engagement models.
e.g. supported by increasing membership and increasing the number of opportunities posted in order to maximise member's business. - The Standard, and any associated accreditations and qualifications, to become the routes of choice for excellence in learning practice within the UK.
i.e. supporting/protecting the sector/profession by raising standards through adoption of the Standard and CLP.
